Application Process

How does the application process work?

  • You can apply online through our Apply page, by phone, or in person at one of our community partner locations. Our intake team will contact you within 2 business days to schedule an initial assessment.

  • After your application, you will be assigned a Bayit navigator who will conduct an intake assessment to understand your needs and goals. Your navigator will then connect you with the appropriate programs and coordinate your support across services.

  • Emergency assistance (rental, utility) is typically processed within 5–7 business days. Other program services begin within 2–4 weeks of your intake assessment, depending on program availability and your specific needs.

Housing

Questions about housing programs

  • A Community Land Trust (CLT) is a nonprofit organization that holds land in trust permanently for the benefit of the community. CLT homeowners purchase the home but lease the land from the trust at a low monthly cost. This structure keeps home prices permanently affordable — when a CLT homeowner sells, they share a portion of the appreciation with the trust, ensuring the next buyer can also afford to purchase.

  • Yes. If you have received an eviction notice or are in immediate danger of losing your housing, contact us right away. We have emergency assistance funds and legal aid referrals that can help. Do not wait — the earlier we can intervene, the more options are available.

  • Bayit does not own or manage rental properties. We connect residents with affordable rental housing through our network of landlord partners and housing agencies, and we provide rental assistance to help residents afford market-rate units.
